Two of the most important days which helped change civilization and the map of Europe are October 16, 1978 and April 2, 2005. Because the first date began the Pontificate of Pope John Paul II, a Polish Cardinal from a far away country and the second date ended his twenty-seven year reign as Bishop of Rome, Supreme Pontiff of the Universal Church and Servant of the Servants of God.
His election marked the beginning of the end of communism in Eastern Europe and the reunification of countries split in half by tyranny. His death left us all wanting more, an unfillable void in our lives.
